Stars and Such

“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars which You have ordained, what is man that you are mindful of him?” Psalm 8:3-4a (NIV)

That is an incredible thought that led to an equally amazing thought…

“He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.” Psalm 147:4 (NIV)

Each one????

“Lift up your eyes on high, and see Who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the strength of His power; not one is missing.” Isaiah 40:26 (NIV)

A Google search told me that there are roughly two hundred sextillion (that’s a real number) stars in the observable universe. That’s a 2 followed by 23 zeros. God personally put each one in place, in the place He designed. That’s order and detail. And then He named each one of them. That’s personal. What meticulous attention He gave to them, those luminous balls of gases! Can we really think He doesn’t give even more attention to His children, living, breathing, incredibly complex beings He created in His own image, people He breathes His very Spirit into? What detail of your life do you think He doesn’t notice?

Please believe, he sees you and inclines His ear toward you when you call.
